Welcoming Dave Smith to Bodkin
Some introductions are longer overdue than others.
Dave Smith joined Bodkin in July last year as our Software Engineer, and over the past several months he has become a hugely important part of the studio and the direction we are heading in.
Dave leads development at Bodkin, bringing a creative mindset to the way websites, digital products and new ideas are built. He works closely with the design team to make sure what we create does not just look right, but performs properly, works intuitively and stands up to real-world use. That balance is not always easy to find, but Dave brings it naturally.

What makes Dave such a valuable part of the team is the combination of technical rigour and genuine design sensitivity he brings to every project. He understands that good development is not simply about making something function. It is about protecting the thinking behind the work, preserving the detail, and helping shape experiences that feel considered from every angle. His work is robust and efficient, but never detached from the craft of the interface itself.
Since joining Bodkin, Dave has played an instrumental role across a wide range of projects. He helped build an AI-powered event matchmaking app for iOS and Android for The Global Series, played a key role in rebuilding our own website, and has been a major influence on how we continue to evolve our technical offer as a studio. He also travelled with me to San Francisco for a tech event last year, which felt like a fitting reflection of the energy and ambition he brings to the work.

Dave is also a co-founder of CollectivAlly, the accessibility platform we are building to help teams create better digital experiences through AI-powered testing and insight. That project in particular reflects a lot of what he brings to Bodkin more broadly: curiosity, care, technical depth, and a strong belief that digital products should work better for the people using them.
As Bodkin continues to grow, Dave has become a big part of how we think about creative technology and where we want to push things next. I am very glad to finally give him a proper introduction on the site.
Welcome, Dave.
